‘It was very quiet, and then it was like, ‘Whoa, this is the most peaceful house I’ve ever seen’

The former home of Robert C. Bennett, a famous architect of the 1800s, is located just south of the Capitol building.

Built in 1915, it is a collection of ceramic tile and other mastic and decorative tiles that were used to decorate the interior of the house.

When it was built, Bennett’s wife, Florence, had a son, Charles, and was working as a schoolteacher.

Charles Bennett died in 1947, but his wife, Rosemary, kept her home in her will, according to the Wall Street Journos.

“There was never any question of who had ownership of the home,” said Lisa L. Ritchie, a longtime Washington resident who has researched Bennett’s life.

“They just wanted to keep the house.”

In 2005, the couple filed for probate in a state court in Alexandria, Virginia, and the state probate judge granted the couple’s request to open the house to the public, and in 2010, they moved in with Rosemary Bennett.

“I think the house has a lot of secrets, because it is so quiet,” said L.R.

“It was just a quiet, quiet home, just the sort of quiet house that a mom could go to.”

Bennett was a master of architecture who had won many prestigious awards and was considered the architect of choice for the Washington, D.C., area.

He died in 2017.

“He was one of the most important architects of the 20th century, and he’s a very important figure in the history of Washington, DC,” said Ritchie.

The Bennett family lived in Alexandria for more than 50 years, but in recent years, the house had become a magnet for the homeless, as the homeless had turned the property into a makeshift encampment.

The property is a popular spot for drug use, as many homeless people come and stay there, said Lacey S. Withers, a social worker with the city’s Department of Public Health.

The homeless camp there for a few months a year, and eventually, it closed.

“This was the site of a drug problem, and it became a place of safety,” Witherss said.

“You’d see kids playing there and it would get so crowded that they had to take shelter in there.”

Witherskis said she often sees homeless people camped out in the driveway.

“The problem is, these kids can’t be trusted to be responsible people,” she said.

The state has not commented on the property’s status as a shelter.

The city also has an anti-camping ordinance, but that only applies to properties that are in the city limits, not those that are on the National Register of Historic Places.

According to Witherswiss, there have been incidents of homeless people camping on the premises, including one case where the family of a homeless man, who is deaf and blind, was evicted from the property.

But Ritchie said she’s not sure the Bennett family would have been in a position to do anything to stop the encampment, or to clean it up.

“If they didn’t have a place to live, they probably would have taken it,” Ritchie added.

The apartment was bought by the Bennetts for $2.8 million in 2010.

As far as the bathrooms, I think it was quite a nice apartment, but you had to be careful not to be a snitch.”
