‘We are not afraid’: Workers face asbestos and ceramic tile jobs in Los Angeles
Workers in Los Feliz are facing asbestos and ceramics work at two Los Angeles-area construction sites.
Workers are using asbestos, ceramicas, and hexagonal tiles to build up the structures in a new city-owned project.
The tiles are being used in new housing and businesses in the Los Angeles area.
Work is expected to begin in the summer of 2021 and be finished by 2021.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the project in November.
The project will be owned by Los Angeles Economic Development Authority, which oversees the city’s economy.
The construction crews are expected to start construction in 2021, according to Garcetti.
Los Feliz Mayor Luis Guido Guzman said the city will not be using asbestos in the construction process.
He said the construction site has already been inspected by the California Department of Health and Safety and will be inspected again.
Guido Guido said that since the first inspection in 2012, there have been no serious safety issues.
